Joshua Welker is now the Account Executive for Ad4!, and his efforts are focused on Creative Strategy, Brand Development, and Account Management for our clients. He is also heavily involved in producing and directing video and visual content.
Even though Joshua is a proud Huntsville native, he has been gone the last 17 years traveling and gaining experience, such as studying at Roosevelt University in Chicago, gaining his B.A. in Advertising and studying Theater.
Joshua also traveled to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the Film and Television industry. While there, he held a variety of positions in production, and had the privilege of working and learning under established Hollywood producers and executives.
But now Joshua is back in his home town of Huntsville and we would like for everyone to get to know him so we have asked him a few questions:
Ad4!: Joshua, out of all that you do for Ad4! Group – marketing, business strategy, account management, – what is your favorite part of the job?
Joshua: The “Ah-Ha!” Moment. It can happen in any one of the areas I’m involved in. When you’re working a problem with your team, and the solution presents itself. For me, there isn’t really anything more motivating.
Ad4!: What prepared you for managing accounts?
Joshua: Working in both the entertainment industry and service industry. Both require a lot of triage and prioritization. In all of these fields, you can’t have a “that’s not my job” attitude. You’ve got to be malleable, able to work under pressure and deadlines, and be willing to change your plan when necessary.
Ad4!: Who is one of your personal inspirations?
Joshua: The list of people who have made an impression on my personal development is endless. Professionally, I’m inspired by people who have a vision and have the ability to lead others to that goal. I look at people like Steve Jobs and his foresight into how the music industry would change, JFK and the Space Race, or even Steven Spielberg, who despite all his previous successes, had to fight for years to produce “Band of Brothers” and over a decade to produce “Lincoln.”
Ad4!: What would you say is your top strength in creating business strategies?
Joshua: I adjust. You can’t have so much pride in your idea or plan that you can’t maneuver. You have to go where the results are.
Ad4!: What is one of the books on your nightstand right now?
Joshua: Wild At Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul
Ad4!: Would you recommend it?
Joshua: Absolutely.
Ad4!: What is in your car CD player right now? Give me specifics.
Joshua: Zac Brown Band: Pass The Jar Disc 1
Ad4!: Can you tell me about your family?
Joshua: Dad’s a Family Practitioner and former Army Doc. Mom’s enjoying her new career as a Grandmother. I have a brother and sister who are both raising their families and I’m really enjoying being closer to them and being an uncle.
Ad4!: When you were a kid what did you aspire to be?
Joshua: I watched “Iron Eagle” every Saturday morning. I think Military Aviation was at the top of every 80’s kids’ list. Then I got glasses in the 5th grade…
Ad4!: What would you want people to know about Joshua Welker if they knew anything?
Joshua: I once bumped into David Faustino. I said “Excuse me, bud.” The ensuing awkward silence is something that will haunt me to my grave.
Look forward to seeing great things from Joshua- we know we will!
