Real Men Wear Pink and Fight Breast Cancer

Ad4! is a strong advocate of community organizations. We each have our organizations of which we are passionate and donate time and energy.

My passion is for the American Cancer Society. It’s an obvious choice since I have cancer, but it’s my passion for another reason. No other medical condition effects people across the board like cancer. When I speak to groups about cancer I usually ask if anyone in attendance that does not know someone with cancer; a friend, family member, co-worker, neighbor. In an audience of adults, I never get a raised hand.

Cancer isn’t just personal to me, it’s personal to everyone.

I’m currently blogging about my experience with chemo as I fight prostate cancer. But today, I’m promoting breast cancer research. In fact, in Madison County, we have an American Cancer Society campaign called Real Men Wear Pink. It’s an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer research. The American Cancer Society provides more money for breast cancer research than any other organization. We always have. That’s a message that sometimes gets lost in all the other breast cancer campaigns.
ACS-300-180The American Cancer Society provides programs for women going through breast cancer, like Look Good, Feel Good. It helps women find ways to feel better about their appearance and themselves. Positive mental attitude is so important when fighting cancer. Anything we can do to help people feel better in the middle of an agonizing experience is helpful.

So here at the end of Breast Cancer Awareness month, you can do a little to support the fight to end breast cancer. Please make a donation to the American Cancer Society. A great way to do that is to support the Real Men Wear Pink campaign of which i am involved. I’m the official Ad4! Pink Man. You can make a donation by clicking HERE. Please click on my name and you can make a donation online. If you’d like to write a check, make it payable to the American Cancer Society and I’ll come pick it up. The campaign ends tomorrow, so please act now.
