The Story Behind Free 2 Teach’s New Website

For over a decade, Ad4! Group has partnered with Free 2 Teach, a nonprofit that supports teachers in Madison County, Alabama, by providing free classroom supplies. Serving thousands of educators, Free 2 Teach has an immeasurable impact on students, teachers, and our community’s future workforce. With this latest website redesign, we aimed to enhance their online presence, making it easier for teachers to access resources and for donors and volunteers to get involved.

Free 2 Teach operates with a vision: to support educators so every child can have a quality education. The organization’s story began in 2009, and since then, it has grown from a small collection of surplus supplies to a 10,000-square-foot store that’s provided over $14.7 million in resources. With this redesign, our goal was to craft a site that tells their story effectively and helps them reach even more teachers in need.

The Design

The site required detailed, purpose-driven pages to convey Free 2 Teach’s mission and provide essential resources. Our designer worked closely with Free 2 Teach to ensure that the website layout communicated the organization’s values and projected a modern design aesthetic that could appeal to teachers, volunteers, partners, and donors alike. To create a cohesive brand experience, the design also aligned with other Free 2 Teach materials, such as the new Partner Brochure. This approach ensures that design elements, colors, and fonts are consistent across media, building brand recognition and creating a unified experience across digital and print.

The design process is an essential part of any brand’s identity. For Free 2 Teach, maintaining a consistent look across platforms helps strengthen their message, making the brand instantly recognizable to those who’ve engaged with it before and memorable to new visitors. Each page of the website was structured for ease of use and readability, highlighting key actions like donating, volunteering, or simply learning more about Free 2 Teach’s impact.

The Development

Nonprofits face unique challenges, and our web developer implemented several custom solutions for Free 2 Teach. Built on a Content Management System (CMS), the new website offers flexibility for Free 2 Teach staff to easily update content, photos, and announcements on their own. A CMS empowers the team to make changes on the fly, without needing advanced technical skills, ensuring that the site remains current and engaging for visitors. Additionally, the website is responsive, meaning it’s optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices, making it accessible to everyone, no matter where or how they access it.

Our team also integrated nonprofit management software to support Free 2 Teach’s operational needs. Customized forms streamline tasks like processing donor contributions, volunteer applications, and partner inquiries, creating an efficient workflow that saves staff time and reduces manual tasks. Within the first week of the website launch, Free 2 Teach staff noted how the streamlined processes were already making their work easier, allowing them to spend more time focused on their mission.

Meeting the Goal

Our goal was to make the Free 2 Teach site an engaging platform for the community, not just for teachers but for everyone invested in education. With streamlined navigation, vibrant imagery, and calls to action, the new website effectively connects with those who want to give back or get involved.

The new Free 2 Teach website is more than just a redesign; it’s a tool that amplifies their impact. By working together on this project, Ad4! Group and Free 2 Teach have created a platform that will support the mission for years to come.
